‘Charisma’

Intro The many conversations with local residents at the beginning of the semester provide insights into how individual people relate to Braunwald. They take their personal stance and give a picture, their image, of Braunwald. In these conversations I often sense that there is an inner connection with the place, no matter how long someone has lived there. People are committed to Braunwald. This must have something to do with the special atmosphere you find in Braunwald. You leave your everyday life behind just by arriving on the Braunwald railway. I feel as if I am immersed in a decelerated world. A liberating feeling. Perhaps it is precisely this feeling that makes Braunwald unique.
Culture In addition to tourism, Braunwald is also home to the BSINTI reading café and culture bar. It is emblematic of the cultural exchange in the village, but also in the Linthal. It provides a space for exhibitions, stage art, music, readings and village meetings, unfortunately with little outward appeal. In addition to the BSINTI, the Music Week has been an integral part of the cultural programme in Braunwald since 1936.
From the conversations, the following statements remain in my memory:
"The BSINTI was an important aspect in my decision to move to Braunwald with my family. It was a sign that there is a cultural exchange in the village."
"Anyone who is ever connected to Braunwald stays connected to Braunwald."
Intention To formulate a long-term vision for Braunwald, I would like to develop a concept for the current and future residents of Braunwald, because they are the backbone of the village. The uniqueness, the deceleration and the connection with the village are qualities of Braunwald that should be held on to and strengthened.
Thesis Braunwald can strengthen the cultural offer for the local population, but also for people from the surrounding cantons through a cultural venue with far-reaching charisma. An exchange is created between the residents and the visitors, who experience the fascinating atmosphere of Braunwald, which will remain in their memories. An emotional connection to the place is created, which can lead to returning to Braunwald for holidays or even to live there.
