Living Fallow Lands - Tourism in Hätzingen GL

The longing of the tourist for relaxation in the countryside corresponds to the expectation to experience in the holidays house as much of a contrast in mood as possible. Thereby an atmospheric density which is diffrent from the city is expected from the landscape. But nothing shapes our sense of a place as much as nature. In the richness of its own possibilities, in its climate, with wind, weather, light, clouds, haze or sky blueness.
So, the holiday architecture does not only have to protect us from the weather - at the same time it also has to stage it as an experience of nature.
The project is a very personal perception of the situation and conditions in Glarus. It is an idea that has its origin in the impressive nature of the Glarus Alps and seeks an answer through its materiality. The site will be further developed with a restaurant, three “community” holiday homes and a youth hostel. Uses that I claim will make the place a more lively place. A precise idea of is shown on the basis of one of the three houses.

There is a core, concreted from the stone on site. Over this core a wooden structure hanging, protected above the ground. The structure remains mostly open. The large roof protects from the weather. Separated from this structure are placed isolated rooms for use on cold days

What do you need when the period of simple life during the vacations is clearly limited? How nice is the fact that you need little, but at the same time you know that the vacations will come to an end?
The luxury comes from outside: The changing weather conditions, the rhythm of light & dark and the resulting changes in color visually enter the interior and constitute its atmospheric mood..
