The Fisher House was designed by Louis Kahn in 1967 and is located in Hatboro, Pennsylvania. The architect focused on a simple geometry – two cubes – the one cube accommodates the public spaces and the other the private spaces. The appearance shows that the two cubes have been placed at a random angle. This rotation gives the interior spaces an optimal orientation. The floor plan has a clear structure.

The terrain slopes slightly to the northeast towards the river and the serving spaces are also oriented in this direction. The building stands on a partially visible stone plinth that resembles a ruin. The chimney jut out from the massive plinth through the two stories above. These floors were built as a lightweight construction. The cedar facade is punctuated by large and small window areas that reflect the surrounding forest.

How he has individually adapted the natural lighting to each room and creates a stimulating atmosphere. The rooms he created are full of light, warmth, security, and flexibility. The windows are more than just windows. He gave it a usage. It becomes a bench, something you can climb up or simply put something on it. What this house also makes unique is the level of the detail. The architectural diligence from the outside is continued inside. The building is like a big furniture.
